SUNMI – GOOD GIRL GONE MAD Tour

Queen SUNMI is touring once again. We went to her gig in Germany as part of the tour ‘GOOD GIRL GONE MAD’, to bring you all the highlights of her amazing show.

It has been a few years since her last tour and for ‘GOOD GIRL GONE MAD’, SUNMI crafted a solid playlist that included not just her hit songs, but also beloved b-sides.

She opened the show with ‘Siren’ and ‘LALALAY‘. The crowd was beyond hyped with such a solid beginning, with cheers that for sure were felt in the venue and probably outside too. With this start we went on with the usual show intro, but in her case she mentioned how all the songs she chose for this tour show the “real SUNMI” and explained that the only sentence that could describe it was ‘GOOD GIRL GONE MAD’.

Keeping up with the thrilling energy the next songs were ‘Sunny’ and ‘Black Pearl’. SUNMI explained that she wrote the former one having in mind ‘Miya-ne’ and how the hook sounded as if they were all calling her name. It just cannot get more wholesome than this.

Moving on ‘Borderline’ and ‘Narcissism’ were next, and with these two singles the first part of this gig ended showing a ‘Distorted (Film)’ VCR that showed SUNMI’s thoughts and imagination.

Noir

The second half of this gig started with ‘Gotta Go’ and ‘Call’. For this section SUNMI changed her outfit to a more noir vibe that fitted the stage and the songs that followed.

’ and ‘Childhood’ followed up, and between songs, she kept up the amazing interaction with the crowd, in her own words “if you guys want to know the real SUNMI, listen to my discography”.

For this part SUNMI decided to prepare a more acoustic stage. After telling Miya-ne that they are her biggest inspiration, she took to the stage with base on hand and performed ‘What The Flower’ and a darker and rocki-ish version of ‘Noir’. As this little acoustic moment ended, she mentioned how nervous she was about playing the bass again, and mentioned her times in Wonder Girls.

The crowd did not hold back and sang a bit of the Wonder Girls’ single ‘Why So Lonely’, to which she reacted in a very wholesome way. After a couple of candid minutes and emotional interactions with the crowd, she moved on to the last single in this set, closing it with her most recent hit ‘HeartBurn’.

Final Set

A second VCR titled ‘Moulin Rouge’ marked the end of the middle set. The last one opened with ‘24 Hours’, followed by ‘Sorry Yah’ and SUNMI in a killer red outfit.

With a thrilled crowd shouting her name and singing her song, SUNMI moved on to the hit ‘Tail’, ‘Burn’, ‘Heroine’ and the timeless bop ‘Gashina’, ending this with the same bursting energy it had started with. Between songs, she kept up with all the interaction with Miya-ne, taking their hand-written letters, reading the banners they prepared and even sending messages to those fans who couldn’t attend.

SUNMI left the stage, with a crowd that was still super hyped and wanted more music. For the encore she sang ‘You can’t sit with us’, and made sure to thank her crew, dancers and fans.
