Staff Pick: Our favourite K-Cosmetics

We’re back with a new K-Beauty article and this time, we’re sharing our favourite products on the market. Let’s see who is a fan of which brand and what products we use on a daily basis.

Ilse:

VividOil Tint by Innisfree

The Vivid Oil Tint by Innisfree is one of my favs on the market. I’ve tried quite a few lip tints but either they dry my lips out completely or they fade away in an hour. The Vivid Oil Tint feels like a happy middle ground between the two.

The formula feels almost like a lip balm because of how soft it feels, but it doesn’t disappear after an hour. So your lips will feel really velvety almost like a cream lipstick without sacrificing a more natural look.

I got the red cherry color and I was so happy with the way it looks, I’ll definitely be buying another one when this one runs out.

Perfect Volume Mascara by the Saem

My favorite mascara ever is from the Korean brand the Saem. The Saemmul Perfect Volume Mascara is honestly amazing. I’ve never found one that’s better. It perfectly picks up my lashes and it coats them evenly. The good thing is that it stays on forever. The lasting power is insane. I’ve even gone to bed with it (accidentally, because I forgot) and when I woke up the lashes were still in place and I didn’t have panda eyes in the slightest.

It also helps that the price is great, so if you’re on a budget but you still want to try this mascara, try it out. It’s not even five euro.

Another tip, if you want to go for that extra WOW, try combining the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and The Saemmul one. Fake lashes who?

Hydro Cushion Blush by The Face Shop

I have a strained relationship with blush because I am not great at picking it out or putting it on. So, when I first used the Hydro Cushion Blush, it was a game changer for me. Basically, it’s a wet coloured sponge instead of a powder, and you tap the make-up pad lightly on it and apply. I love that it feels fresh, that it looks natural, and that you can apply it even without a make-up base (because liquids stick better!).

Flower Triple Mousse Lip Tint by Nature Republic

Actively obsessed with this lip tint by Nature Republic. It’s creamy, it’s velvety, it smells good (which doesn’t matter I guess, but I like it). Specifically I love how easy it is to apply, and how flexible the application can be. Put on a lot for intense colour, dab a little for something more discrete.

They last for a long time – although don’t expect your coffee mugs to come out un-kissed. My favourite aspect is their colours – they look as you expect them to look and they’ve more darker shades than usual.

My favourite CC cream was also by Nature Republic but it’s now discontinued and I must try to squeeze every last drop out of my last tube *cries*.

Black Sugar Face Scrub by SkinFood

I know, technically not make-up, but a pretty essential step in your skincare routine. More so if you’re like me, and your skincare routine is basically this scrub, a mask whenever you can be bothered, and a day cream.

If you’ve been around Korean cosmetics for any amount of time you’re familiar with SkinFood’s Black Sugar Mask, which is hands-down, the best. This is the sister product for more frequent use, and is equally awesome.

You can feel the sugar scrubbing, it’s rough enough but not too harsh, and you smell amazing after.

Two Tone Lipstick by Laneige

A few years ago I got seriously obsessed with gradient lipstick after watching a drama. I absolutely love the effect, however, to get that lovely gradient a bit of work with foundation had to be done. Laneige’s two tone lipstick will save you time by doing the gradient effect in one go, on top of that the formula feels amazing and will last for a couple of hours.

Magic Cushion Cover Lasting by Missha

This is my favourite cushion to use during summer time. It has SPF 50+++ and will leave your face feeling plump and hydrated without looking oily. The only thing I was kind of unhappy about was the lack of variety of shades, but these days Missha is including more shades for their new products.

Liptint by Peripera

Peripera will always be my favourite lip tint brand, their colors are just fantastic and I’m a fan of their matte finish and their soft, almost velvety feel in their formula. If you want a cool summer look get your hand on one of these lip tints. You will not be disappointed.

Rouge Holic Liquid by Hera

A friend of mine gifted me with this lipstick and it has been my favourite ever since. Hera Rouge Holic Liquid is a killer lipstick that will stay on for hours, it does not transfer and it just feels very soft on the lips. The shades are fantastic for a dramatic look or to go out at night. You can check them out here.

That’s it for our list of our favourite Korean make-up. Tell us which product you can’t live without in the comments and we might just get curious enough to give them a try.
