Rookies attack: CIX a promising debut

A few weeks ago I came across a new boy group that debuted in July this year. For some reason, I felt like I knew some of the vocals of their members already, so I decided to start digging online for info.

CIX is a new group under C9 Entertainment featuring BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, Jinyoung, and Hyunsuk. Two of the members (BX and Seunghun) are already known for their participation in the survival shows ‘Mix Nine’ and ‘Treasure’ and Jinyoung is a former member of WANNA ONE. Let me just say this group is full of talent.

Before listening to the full EP I already had high expectations, I watched both survival programs and I was absolutely gutted when I found out that Byounggon (BX) and Seunghun hadn’t made it to the final line up. These guys are super talented and have been training for years, so I really wanted them to debut (not biased at all really) and I’m glad they found the opportunity to do what they love at C9 Entertainment.

Now, let’s start talking about their EP ‘HELLO Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger’ and the reasons why I absolutely loved it (disclaimer: I’m just a fangirl with no technical or professional background, just love for the art).

The EP kicks off with ‘What You Wanted’ a hip-hop charged track that shows off the TALENT of the rap line of this group as well as showing the versatility of the vocal line and both blend seamlessly together.

This song is followed by their title track  ‘Movie Star’ a pop song that definitely shows how skilled the members are. The song itself allows each one of them to show off and I absolutely loved it (watch the video below).

‘Like It That Way’ comes in with a totally different vibe from the two previous songs, I felt like it was a more summer-ish track. I can totally imagine myself having a daiquiri at the beach listening to this song.

Next one on the list is ‘Imagine’ a bubbly pop track with a super refreshing vibe that I enjoyed. The EP finishes with the track ‘The One’, an almost pop-like ballad that I will say is the perfect closure for this album. It sort of sets you in the mood of a concert and I can totally imagine a big crowd singing and clapping with this song.

I’ll be on the look-out for more music from this rookie group. They are definitely full of talent and I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Have you listened to this EP? If so, let me know what you think in the comments.
