[Review] Remarriage and Desires

This time for our drama review we are talking about a K-drama centering around power, the search for the ideal marriage and revenge. This week we are talking about the 2022 Netflix production ‘Remarriage and Desires’.

Written by Lee Geun-yeong and directed by Kim Jeong-min, ‘Remarriage and Desires’ explores the world of a matchmaking agency whose ultimate objective is to pair wealthy people in marriages of interest, power and even revenge.

Seo Hye-Seung (Kim Hee-Seon) is forced into signing up into this agency by her mother soon after she becomes a widow. Hye-Seung’s ex-husband died soon after he left her to start a new life with Ji Yoo-Hui (Jung Eugene).

However, his newly found love had other things in mind, and he became the cover up for corruption. He can’t go back to his family, and eventually Hye-Seung’s husband is found dead. After this unfortunate event, she decides to go after those who led the father of her daughter to such a tragic end.

Old Love – New People

While on her mission to uncover the passing of Yoo-Hui,  who had signed up to the dating agency, Hye-Seung finds out that her university boyfriend Cha Seok-Jin (Park Hoon) is also participating in the matchmaking events of the agency.

In this same event she meets the mysterious Lee Hyung-Ju (Lee Hyun-Wook), a CEO who made more than one woman sign up in the matchmaking agency just to have a shot with him.

Hye-Seung tries to uncover the real person Yoo-Hui is, however, unexpected situations keep stopping her from doing so. In her search for revenge and justice Hye-Seung is ready to give it all, but what she doesn’t know is that Yoo-Hui will go to great lengths in order to achieve what he wants.

Park Hoon decides to help Hye-Seung in her revenge plot, however, as this story develops we see that the truth behind her husband’s death is a lot more corrupt than she thought.

A revenge story

With just eight episodes ‘Remarriage and Desires’ is a very quick but engaging production, each episode uncovers more truths and viewers get on Hye-Seung’s side in her quest for revenge and justice.

This production is rather fast paced, with not too many episodes, the story and the characters develop quickly and this keeps viewers on edge, trying to think what will be the next move of the people involved in this revenge plot.

The side characters also represent important elements in the development of this drama, each one of them is a vital puzzle piece in all the mysteries and scheming of this production, making it even more entertaining.

If you are up to watching a drama that will have your heart racing, and will make you love and hate the characters, this one’s for you. It is currently available on Netflix, and you can watch the trailer below.
