[Review] pH-1 – BUT FOR NOW LEAVE ME ALONE

pH-1 (aka. Harry) is back with his new album ‘BUT FOR NOW LEAVE ME ALONE‘. He dropped the pre-release single ‘MR.BAD’ featuring Woo a few weeks ago, and left us fired up and looking forward to this release.

It’s been a while since Harry’s last album, and we were looking forward to listen to what he has been working on. Let’s get right into it.

BUT FOR NOW LEAVE ME ALONE

ZOMBIES‘ kicks off this album in a rather exciting way. For this single pH-1’s rap is slighty autotuned but just at the right moments and for the right amount, making the EDM beat and full composition flow amazingly. The changes of speed in the delivery were super sick and as expected the vibe of this single is immaculate.

The music video shows the visuals for this single and ‘TIPSY‘. The visuals are surprisingly minimalistic, but the effect and the camera work are incredible. For ‘ZOMBIES‘ the concept is a lot more clean and stylish, but for the second single it is as if you really were tipsy and vibing.

Disco synth comes along with ‘TGIF‘ and I am loving the style he went for with this single. It’s a lot more up beat and fun; this track is total musical ride with smooth back vocals and killer instrumentation. The bass had me vibing to this single from start to end.

YUPPIE TING‘ was pre-released last week featuring Blase, this track has dope keyboard work and a trendy composition. The contrast of delivery and rapping style between them make this single reach the next level. pH-1’s softer tones and Blase’s sharp delivery are an amazing combo. Check the MV below.

TIPSY‘ plays next and this single took me back to 2018’s pH-1 vibe, and I am here for it. Totally loved the cool, easy and flawless flow in this single. For a contrast we get a faster outro with an amazing mixing.

The pre-released single ‘MR.BAD‘ featuring Woo follows up, and this is a duo I love seeing together. Harry’s and Woo’s style fit each other to perfection and every single song they have together either goes hard or it is a total mood, this one is the latter. On a softer note ‘JULIETTE!‘ featuring UMI plays, with a lovely lo-fi riff and a chill style. This track is a very cool and easy listen.

I NEED HELP (…)

Guitar and bass open up the second half of this release in ‘RUN AWAY‘. The guitar instrumentation stays throughout the full song giving it a soft touch, and towards the end it becomes edgy and angsty. I loved how this change along with that faster rapping made this song feel like a completely different track.

DEAD GIRL‘ brings slighty distorted guitar instrumentation and trippy composition. The layering and mixing in this single are one of a kind. There is a lot to listen to, and all of it with pH-1’s rapping flow are a total listening experience.

Featuring Mokyo, ‘SHRINK TOLD ME‘ follows up, and as expected by these two we get a total vibe, with amazing lyrics and an incredible delivery. The rapping in this track is raw and real, and I just love how with every single collab with them we get all the feels. Legends!

With an R&B feel and smooth flow ‘ISSUES‘ featuring Paloalto comes along. For this single we also get subtly enhanced vocals and a flawless progression. The parallels of the two different rap styles were super cool, and made this single special and unique.

2nd LP

On a similar style and heavy lo-fi vibes ‘BREAK THE GLASS‘ comes along, with a piano instrumentation and mixing out of this world. We near the end with ‘FINAL BOUT‘ featuring LOS. The synth in this track is dope and fresh. There’s a bit of an old-school feel in this single that made it a total trip. Definitely a solid collab.

We reach the end of this album with ‘BVE‘. This single brings a stunning piano orchestration with harmonies, and a sick rap delivery. The mixes and changes of pace and tempo are incredible, surprising and just keep listeners on the edge. This is a legendary way to end a release.

pH-1 did an incredible job in his second EP. This release is fresh, unique and shows his identity and style as an artist. Each song is unique and special in its own way and it is a non-skip from start to end.
