[Review] ONF – ONF:MY NAME

I’m so happy because the boys from ONF are back with their first full album ‘ONF:MY NAME’. Let’s dive right in because I’m stoked. This album tells the story of the members seeking freedom in a controlled future.

ONF:MY NAME

We start off with the title track ‘Beautiful Beautiful’. This track is honestly such an amazing start. It’s catchy, it has a beautiful (lol) meaning and a straight-up vibe. The choreo is slick as hell and they all look fab. The little acapella moment in the bridge is adorable and I’m living for this.

Next up is the pre-release ‘My Name Is’ which we wrote about here. It’s still as cute as when I heard it the first time. All of the ONF members have writing credits on the track.

After that we get ‘Thermometer’ which is by the ON unit, the vocal team. It’s a beautiful ballad that lets us appreciate their vocals to the fullest. It’s smooth as hell. There’s some really dope guitar in there that just complements everything so well. I love it.

‘Secret Triangle’ is the OFF unit track which starts off with some hella dope staccato rapping. That drop, man. I did not see that coming. I’m desperate to see the choreo for this one. I’m very intrigued. Also excuse me, that bridge is insane!!

We’re following that up with ‘The Realist’. It’s synth pop that had me shook. It’s so well done! I guarantee this is one of those songs that you can listen to for years to come without getting sick of it. That pre-chorus is hella catchy. That electric guitar has me feeling things.

Interlude

‘On You’ is a happy little interlude. The kids playing in the background are adorable. This song is all about wanting to meet offline rather than online. It’s utterly adorable and if you need a shot of serotonin, this is the one for you.

Next up is ‘Trip Advisor’. No, this is not a commercial for the actual Trip Advisor. This is all about travelling the world with Street View on Google Maps. It’s such a happy song again. I love it to bits. Literally this is such an ONF song, I’m in love. The adlibs are hilarious.

‘Feedback’ is a slower song with R&B vibes and Wyatt’s hella deep voice. It’s sweet as sugar and the bridge is even sweeter. I feel like I need to call my dentist, because I’m gonna get cavities.

‘I.T.I.L.U.’ or I think I love you is another ballad with a more simplistic instrumentation. I would love to hear this live because it sounds incredible. There’s piano and strings and it gives all the space in the world for the members’ vocals. Wyatt should really record an audiobook, I’d pay for that. The string bridge is immaculate.

The last track on the Spotify version is the English version of ‘Beautiful Beautiful’ which was a surprise for me.

On the physical version of the CD there’s also a 2021 version of ‘Lights On’.

The first full album ‘ONF:MY NAME’ by ONF is a roaring success in my opinion. Go ahead and listen to it on Spotify here. If you want to read about their previous comeback, you can click here.
