[Review] ONEWE – Planet Nine: VOYAGER

The boys from ONEWE are back with their new mini-album ‘Planet Nine: VOYAGER’. This is a continuation of their previous mini which you can read about here.

Planet Nine: VOYAGER

We start off with ‘Universe_’. The lyrics written by Yonghoon are so incredibly sweet. The guitar solo in the bridge was so cool and really added to the swell of emotions. Honestly, this is an incredibly heartfelt title track. The outro had me in tears and just overwhelmed. It’s beautiful.

After that we get ‘Envision_’ which was written by CyA and Harin. It’s a lovely mid-tempo ballad that plays with rhythm and intensity. The bass is great and the vocal work is fantastic. The drums are well-balanced and I am in love with the bridge.

‘Montage_’ goes a bit harder, or at least in the intro. It’s an interesting blend of some funk with rock. It has a pretty cool build-up and again it has such a cool bridge. CyA wrote the lyrics.

Next up

Next up we get ‘Trigger_’. Co-written by Dongmyeong and CyA this track is all about trying to cover the discrimination and hatred that have dominated the world with ONEWE’s color. There’s a rap break which I’m obsessed about. I love the velvety vocal work in the pre-chorus. This track has such an interesting flow. This might just be one of my favorites of the album.

‘Orbit_’ comes up next. Kanghyun and CyA teamed up for the lyrics of this one. This is delightfully soft. I enjoyed the acoustic guitar and the warm vocals. I’m also digging the slight distortion on the vocals in the bridge. It adds a cool dynamic.

The closing track is ‘From_’. This is such a great closing track. It’s uplifting, yet emotive and blesses us with some beautiful harmonies. It’s incredible.

Overall, ONEWE really outdid themselves with ‘Planet Nine: VOYAGER’. I think it’s great that we can see them grow as musicians. I’m very impressed and will definitely be adding this to my favorites.
