[Review] ONEUS – MALUS

The guys from ONEUS are back with their amazing music and one of a kind concept for their eighth mini-album ‘MALUS‘. ONEUS has been steadily growing their fan base over the last few years, and their music just gets better and better with every single comeback. We are stoked to see how they are going to surprise us this time.

Let’s dive right in.

MALUS

Intro : EDEN‘ is the opening track for this release, with it we get ONEUS’ breathtaking singing and a track that is immersive with its sound. We are slowly being drawn to their story for this EP, and this intro does the work perfectly.

We welcomed a reggae rhythm and a sexy lyrical delivery with the title track ‘Same Scent‘. Fans are up for a treat with this single and its amazing arrangement. It has a bit of a summer feel, but also a unique and seductive style. I was in absolute awe with the rap-line and their tone, they totally killed it and added a special touch to this already dope song.

For the music video, we get a mix of very delicate and cinematic shots, the individual sets are incredible. The group’s performance on the water was gorgeous to watch! The choreography for this single has a mix of both strong movements but also a soft edge, that is eye-catching. Watch it below.

STUPID LOVE‘ comes up next with a rock based track and plenty of cool vibes. The drums and electric guitar in this song are next level. ONEUS’ vocal line kills it in this track, I really liked how the slightly enhanced the vocals for a darker touch. Amazing.

Next up

Acoustic guitar opens ‘Gravitation‘ and for this single we go deep into emotions, harmonies and breathtaking singing. Its minimalistic but yet stunning composition is and incredible listen. As this single flows the more intense it gets, and its outro is definitely something else.

We go retro pop in ‘Mermaid‘, this single changes the mood and makes it groovy, fun and chill. The synth and electric guitar in this track are a total vibe, I would love to see this single performed live, it would be a one of a kind music experience.

With a rather dark style we get ‘FULL MOON‘, the falsettos in this single and distorted sections had me absolutely mesmerised, its full structure and style are incredible! I loved every single second of this song, it was surprise after surprise.

Closing this extended play is the English version of the title track.

ONEUS once again had us shook with ‘MALUS’, from their visual films for this comeback to the music in it, they delivered a consistent and beautiful listening a viewing experience.
