[Review] NU’EST – Romanticize

NU’EST just dropped the 2nd full album after 7 years since their first one. ‘Romanticize‘ is the name of this release and it includes solo tracks of the members.

Let’s check it out!

Romanticize

House music begins this album in ‘DRESS‘, this song is a total anthem. It goes off strong and had me jamming to it since the very start. This track leaves a very strong impression and catches the listener’s attention, and it just gets even better with their harmonizations.

The title track ‘Inside Out‘ comes next with an electronic music arrangement, this song is heavy in its vocals and I really appreciate that. The members really go off with their singing and made the hook of the song super catchy.

The music video is aesthetically pleasing, the visuals, the color scheme and the set are stunning. The choreography for this track is super cool and sharp. Watch it below.

Acoustic guitar introduces listeners to ‘DON’T WANNA GO‘, this track is VOCALS, absolutely stunning. The emotions the members transmitted with their singing was something else.

BLACK‘ is next and this song is a full mood, is kinda smooth and easy to listen to. The hook “lachalacha” is seriously catchy, the ad-libs are amazing and I just loved how vocally rich this song is.

DRIVE‘ comes next, this song has an electro-pop feel that I really like. It was pre-released last year in NU’EST’s Japanese release, but this time they brought the Korean version to fans.

Solo tracks

The first solo track is by MINHYUN, ‘EARPHONE‘ mixes a R&B vibe with pop-ballad feel. I totally loved the instrumentation and how well-balanced this track is. His vocals as expected ore fantastic and were mixed flawlessly into the creation of a piece that is the perfect solo debut track.

BAEKHO is next with ‘NEED IT‘, and I seriously got some sexy R&B vibes that I dig a lot. This song is a total BOP, rich in sound and with a very strong presence. The falsettos are SMOOTH and the high note flawless.

DOOM DOOM‘ is JR’s solo track, this song comes off with heavy synth and killer rapping. His voice sounds slightly coarse and it is super cool to listen to.

REN’s ‘ROCKET ROCKET‘ plays next, this synth pop track is perfect to get hyped up, is a strong track that would be perfect for an electronic music festival.

Last on this released is ARON’s solo ‘I’M NOT‘, and we are closing off this album with a soft pop-ballad with a beautiful piano instrumentation and dreamy vocals. Just stunning and soulful.

Final thoughts

NU’EST did an amazing job in this release, is diverse and musically rich. The solo tracks fit the members to perfection. The solo tracks were entirely written or co-written by the members. The QUALITY!
