Our king Minho released his first album ‘CALL BACK’ today. We’re super stoked so let’s just jump straight in!
CALL BACK
We start off with the title track ‘CALL BACK’. This is a really cool pop moment with nice synths, pretty piano and R&B inspired vocals. I really enjoyed this!
Next up is ‘Slow Down’ which is an R&B pop song with trap elements and a dreamy synth sound. This feels like a very sensual and sweet track.
‘FIREWORKS’ featuring SOHEE of RIIZE comes up next. This is “a hip-hop dance song with a rhythmic bass line, delivering a positive message of lighting a spark called ‘me’ in our complicated and tiring daily lives.” It’s adorable, a bit cheesy but a fun listen that brings a shot of energy.
‘Came and left me’ follows that with a really cool guitar riff. We’re going for dance pop with this one and I love how they played with the rhythm and introduced pauses to add tension.
Next up is ‘Something about U’. We’re getting power and drive in this one. It’s a cool listen with groovy beats and a solid dose of sensuality. The bridge is dope!
‘Round Kick’ is an R&B dance pop track that combines guitar riffs, brass, and Y2K synth. This was a super sick listen. I really dig the chorus and the tension.
Next up is ‘Affection’ and this brings the Afrobeats. “The lyrics are impressive as they describe a person’s feelings of slowly sinking into the water like sinking into the other person, whom he likens to the deep sea.” It’s a smooth listen with very R&B based vocals.
‘I don’t miss you’ is an R&B pop blend with a cool kick snare and a very story-time vibe. Minho is telling a story here and we’re all sat to listen, as we should. I enjoyed the vocal stacking in the pre-chorus.
‘Because of you’ featuring NingNing of Aespa is up next. Their vocal blend is honestly SO nice. Their harmonies and the R&B vibe is a total moment. This is a very laidback track and is a total ear candy.
We’re closing off with ‘Would you mind’. We’re getting a very dreamy soundscape with the various effects and layers. Minho’s vocals in this really shine. This is such a dope track.
