The queen Hyolyn is back with a brand new mini-album ‘iCE’. It’s been a while sice her last EP, but she has been coming out with singles and we cannot forget about her incredible stages in ‘QUEENDOM 2′.
This release includes a couple of pre-released singles and four new tracks. Let’s get right into it and check what she has prepared for her BAEs.
iCE
‘Over You‘ kicks off this mini-album with synth-pop. With this single Hyolyn is singing about moving on and gaining self-confidence after a break up. Her vocals and the bass-line are a cool mix, and she delivered the emotions in this song flawlessly. There is also a bit of a summer feel to this song that I really liked.
Moving on we jump onto the title track ‘NO THANKS‘, with this track we get hype hip-hop and an awesome flow. Hyolyn is singing and rapping with a very catchy beat. The killing point in this single is something I haven’t heard of a title song in her discography so far. I was personally happy with this new trendy sound, we all know Hyolyn can do anything and kill it at it, and this single just proves it.
With insane visuals the music video plays and I am in love with the ice queen aesthetics, the mix of summer visuals with ‘I am a QUEEN and I know it’ vibe took this MV to the next level. Let’s not leave behind the fantastic choreography, because wow. A 10000/10. Watch it below.
R&B and pop meet in ‘Body Talk‘, and with this single we get smooth vocals and groovy instrumentation. The beat drops and changes in the tempo made this single even sexier, and the full build up for the bridge was flawless.
All-rounder
‘Ah Yeah‘ brings a synth break to this release and with this single we get a rather chill and carefree vibe I really enjoyed. The rap flow in this song is super cool, and I loved the laidback style in the delivery.
Next up is the pre-released single ‘Layin’ Low‘ featuring Jooyoung, check our review to find out more.
Closing this EP is the single ‘Waka Boom‘ featuring Lee Young Ji. This song was released as the final stage for Hyolyn’s participation in “QUEENDOM 2“.
Hyolyn’s comeback was full of surprises, as a l fan I am happy with the mix of genres and vibe of this release, she absolutely delivered. Make sure to listen to ‘iCE’ by Hyolyn on Spotify here.
