[Review] CRAVITY – The Awakening: Written In The Stars

CRAVITY just dropped their very first album. This super rookie group has captivated fans with their incredible performances and a unique sound. We are curious about the surprises this releases contains, let’s dive right in!

The Awakening: Written In The Stars

Intro : New Horizon‘ introduces listeners to this album with a very interesting cinematic sound, setting the expectations towards a futuristic EDM vibe. We continue with this electronic sound with the title track ‘Gas Pedal‘, and the rap-line stands out in this track with some very dope verse delivery.

The vocal line balances out this hip-hop driven track with flawless vocalization and harmonies. The music video goes off with Neo-futuristic visuals and stunning transitions. As expected the choreography and full performance is neat and the members look incredible. Watch it below.

A lovely lo-fi instrumentation starts off ‘VENI VIDI VICI‘, this track is groovy and with a very unique sound that stands out. I LOVED the vocals’ tone change in the chorus and how the electric guitar solo took over this track and made it a master piece. This song is going straight to my list of CRAVITY’s favourite b-sides.

We go alternative with ‘CHINGA-LINGA‘, this song is one of a kind with its playful beats and sudden changes in tempo. It has a more trap oriented sound and a very catchy hook. This mix works perfectly with the flawless balance between the rapping and the singing. Perfection in a song!

Super Rookies

A mix of hip-hop and dance takes over in ‘Celebrate‘. The sweet vocals of CRAVITY stand out in this song with their lovely melodies and playful lyric delivery.

Grand Prix‘ is next with a electro-pop feel that I totally dig. The bass line in this track is smooth and the harmonizations perfection. This song is a full vibe and I loved it!

We go onto a dance-pop track with ‘Divin’‘. This song is a lot more chill in comparison to the rest of the tracks and it has a summery feel.

Last on this album is ‘GO GO‘, and what a smooth way to close this release. This track includes a very minimalistic sound with a guitar riff and cool beats. I felt that this track was made to appreciate the vocals, and they did an incredible job.

CRAVITY’s first album was definitely full of surprises and delivered everything we expected and more, make sure to listen to it here.
