Our girlies from ARTMS are back with their latest mini-album ‘Club Icarus’. If you’re in for insane quality and an even crazier visual then stick around!
Club Icarus
We start off this mini with the intro ‘Club for the Broken’. This is honestly a magnificent soundscape. We start with the classical orchestration before we’re warping into an EDM moment which then blends back into the piano again. Stunning!
Then we go to the title track ‘Icarus’. If you have 14 minutes to spare, definitely check out the cinematic version of the music video. If not, watch the club version.
The cinematic version is literally one of the best produced, prettiest, most interesting storylines I’ve come across in K-pop for a minute. I love the combination of the retro cyberpunk imagery. The acting was well done and honestly some shots were literally awe-inspiring and had me with my mouth open.
I’m obsessed with the falling angels, the sparkles on the shield and the scene around the seven minute mark with the head coming out. Also the choreography is insane and so beautifully done. The lines are amazing.
They worked together with Digipedi on the production of the MV. You can read more about them here as we’ve already written about them before.
In ‘Obsession’ they talk about obsession which is both a modern disease and a beautiful instinct. This is a beautiful track with a really cool synth layering and stunning vocals. I love the progression and the entire flow. The abrupt ending leaves you wanting more.
‘Goddess’ is a hyper pop track completely in English. I really enjoyed listening to this. It’s cool, has really fun synths and totally absorbs you into the music.
Next up is ‘Verified Beauty’ and check out this part of the album description: “it was a song that was prepared since ARTMS first signed with Modehouse. The moment the five girls took a step into the bigger world, the young girls became women with independent beauty.”
We’re closing the album with ‘BURN’ which was pre-released 2 months ago.
