For this edition of our Rapper In The Spotlight, we are diving into the career of an indie rapper whose heavy tone and ever-evolving sound have steadily turned heads in the underground scene. Let’s talk about Yung Blesh.
Debut
Kim Se-hyeon, better known as Yung Blesh, officially debuted in 2020 under Talented with the single ‘You,‘. Right from the start, he showcased a smooth and rhythmic flow, blending melodic rap with R&B influences. The track introduced listeners to his distinctive tone and hinted at the versatility he would continue to develop throughout his career.
First EP
Following his debut, Yung Blesh returned in 2021 with his first EP, ‘PAIN‘. The project expanded his musical identity with a collection of tracks rooted in lo-fi and indie hip-hop, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of his debut single.
That same year, he maintained his momentum with the release of ‘bulldog‘ featuring Royal 44 and the single ‘Heavy‘. Both tracks leaned further into underground hip-hop and demonstrated his ability to shift between styles while maintaining his signature vibe.
Going Independent
Yung Blesh opened 2022 with ‘Ghost Mode‘ before leaving Talented and embarking on his independent journey.
This new chapter officially kicked off with ‘See Me Now‘, a track that pushed him even deeper into the underground hip-hop lane and showcased a darker, more mature sound.
Throughout 2023, he released ‘Last Letter‘ and ‘M.D.M.A‘, followed by ‘HighestintheRoom‘ in 2024, further refining his atmospheric blend of hip-hop and melodic rap.
First Album
In the summer of 2024, Yung Blesh released his first full-length album, ‘Sad Lyfe‘. Featuring appearances from Royal 44 and Chin, the project delivered a cool blend of EDM-inspired production, hip-hop beats, and autotune-heavy melodies, creating an effortlessly vibey listening experience.
The album was followed by the 2025 EP ‘PROJECT : 01‘.
During the same year, he stayed busy with several collaborations, including ‘Don‘ featuring Paul Blanco, ‘ABC‘ alongside KHAN, Shyboiitobii, Wuusline, and Owen, and ‘M.D.M.A 2‘ with Royal 44.
He later reunited with Royal 44 for the collaborative album ‘We Got What You Need‘. The project highlighted the chemistry between the two artists and delivered a smooth, polished sound that expanded both of their musical palettes.
