Queendom 2 Episode 9 recap

Queendom 2’ released episode 9 of the survival show yesterday, so let’s get started with our recap of this week’s episode. If you’d like to check out episode 8 first, you can click here.

LOONA

This week LOONA is starting their performance first. Orbits created an entire wall with letters and photos to share their handwritten messages.

Some orbits even created video messages and the LOONA members got emotional. It inspired them to work harder and create a performance for the fans. Since many of the letters mentioned their single ‘Butterfly’, they decided to go for that song.

We see Haseul and Yves in the studio doing the last check-ups on the arrangement. Heejin used her calligarphy for the fonts. Haseul recorded the intro.

The members all practiced the choreography so hard they all got bruises on their knees. They saw them as badges of honour.

The performance itself starts and is immediately captivating. They created an ethereal experience. The outfits were flowy and helped capture the movement of butterflies. I particularly liked the first dance break with the more orchestral focus and the echo of movement was decidedly well done.

Brave Girls

The girls are looking for the group’s identity with the help of the fans. I think the feedback and the constant last place had the girls’ quite demotivated.

Brave Girls organised an online concert for the fans and sang multiple songs. It turned into a real noraebang situation when they started singing other groups’ songs.

They ended up deciding on the track ‘Red Sun’ which tells their story. From their hardships and then their very first win.

I love how beautifully they portrayed this performance. They really embodied the Cinderella story and created a touching show that had me in tears. I hope the members can continue to walk on their flower path.

All of the other girl groups got emotional as well.

Hyolyn

Hyolyn went busking to decide between two songs she and her team were doubting on. She found it hard to choose between ‘BAE’ and ‘See Sea’. Hyolyn also prepared goodie bags for her fans.

Since this round is all about FANtastic performances (emphasis on the fan) Hyolyn invited a fan over to dance with her on stage. Hyerim, who was on ‘Street Woman Fighter’ is joining the performance as a dancer and as a BAE. She met Hyolyn during a SISTAR busking stage in 2018 and has been a fan ever since.

This performance, titled ‘See Sea BAE’ takes place at BAE beach with Hyolyn as a lifeguard. I’m still in awe of Hyolyn’s stage presence. She created a fun, summer performance that had all of us straight up vibing.

The results

After fantastic stages, it was time to vote, but before knowing the results we had the self-evaluation. For this round, Brave Girls chose Hyolyn as above them and Kep1er as below them.

Kep1er from their side chose Brave Girls as above them and LOONA as below them. Hyolyn decided next and chose no one as above her and VIVIZ as below her.

WJSN chose no one as above them, and LOONA as below them. LOONA from their side chose no one above them and VIVIZ as below.

Finally, VIVIZ chose Brave Girls as above them, and LOONA as below. For this round of self evaluation Brave Girls ended in first place, followed by Hyolyn in second; WJSN, third; Kep1er, fourth; VIVIZ, fifth; and LOONA, sixth.

Next up was the global vote which had a dramatic shift in comparison to the previous rounds, with Brave Girls earning the first place, WJSN, second; LOONA, third; VIVIZ, fourth; Kep1er, fifth; and Hyolyn, sixth.

After checking the interim result we got the final results from this round, which ended with:

  1. Brave Girls
  2. WJSN
  3. LOONA
  4. Hyolyn
  5. VIVIZ
  6. Kep1er

Next week is the final round, and Brave Girls got to choose the order for the final stage, and so far we know that they will go last and Hyolyn first.

The teams had a little sneak peak of the final song they will perform, and we cannot wait to see the stages they will prepare. You can listen to all the songs already, and remember to stream the one from your favourite team.
