[Offstage] Alive Funk – Indie Producer Turned Solo Artist

In this edition of Offstage, we’re highlighting a producer whose name has floated quietly around the indie scene for years—but who only recently caught our full attention through his solo releases. Let’s talk about Alive Funk.

Early Work in the Indie Scene

Alive Funk began making waves in 2016, co-producing the EP ‘Journal From Chosen One’ by O’Domar. His early work focused on indie hip-hop, composing for underground artists like Idiotus and KeepNews, laying the foundation for a unique and gritty production style.

Consistent Influence Across the Indie Circuit

Since then, Alive Funk has stayed deeply rooted in Korea’s independent music scene, working with names such as RUDAP, Greengrim, The Deep, SINCE, ITÉ, Kitsyojii, AGJB, and KittyB—showcasing versatility in both R&B and hip-hop spaces.

Solo Career & Standout Releases

Alive Funk launched his solo career in 2020 with the album ‘DI-ANA’, featuring standout collaborations with respected hip-hop artists like QM and Ja Mezz.

Since then, he’s consistently dropped singles, including his 2023 full-length project ‘SHAM’ and the recent 2024 EP ‘an industrial site’—a gritty, OG hip-hop-infused release with razor-sharp beats and bold soundscapes.

Alive Funk has quietly built a rock-solid resume, contributing to a wide range of indie and underground hits while evolving into an expressive solo artist in his own right. Make sure to check out his solo releases, and browse his full list of credits here.
