Ode To The Artist: Jeong Sewoon

We’re back with a brand new Ode To The Artist, this time featuring Jeong Sewoon. If you don’t know him yet, please keep reading because his music will soothe your soul.

Jeong Sewoon is a singer-songwriter under Starship Entertainment. He was born on 31 May 1997 and he’s been active in the Korean music industry since 2013. Though his official debut as a solo artist wasn’t until 2017.

In 2013 he joined the third season of K-pop Star. He auditioned with the self written song ‘Mom, wait a minute’. When I first saw it, I thought my heart was going to burst because it is the most adorable thing.

During the competition he was put together in a duo together with Kim Ah-hyeon and they managed to reach finals. Three months later, Jeong Sewoon signed with Starship Entertainment.

It isn’t until 2017, that he resurfaced while participating in the second season of Produce 101. He ranked twelfth in the final line-up, so just missed his chance at being in Wanna One.

Though after that, he finally debuted as a solo artist with the EP ‘Part 1: Ever’.  Check out his first title track ‘Just U’.

A couple of months later, he returned with ‘Part 2: After’. A fantastic summer track, despite being released in January.

His title track for his EP ‘Another’ just screams aesthetics.

His EP  ‘Plus Minus Zero’ is one of my all time favorite EP’s. I can listen to that for an entire day and not get sick of it. It’s absolutely brilliant and so SOFT!

Please, please listen to these two tracks.

He also has a whole bunch of OST’s. Sewoon has written for ‘Wok of Love’, ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’, ‘Where Stars Land’, ‘Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency’ and ‘Extraordinary You’. You know that someone has a voice of honey when they land that many OST’s y’all.

In October 2019, he finally had his first win on a music show, which is a huge thing for Korean artists. ‘When It Rains’ is the title track of his latest release ‘Day’. You really have got to watch this clip. First off, he looks so surprised that he won?! Second of all, the struggle with the raincoat is both the cutest and most hilarious thing.

He didn’t get the nickname ‘Ponyo’ for nothing.

With this last song I want to close off the article, because if I don’t I’m going to ramble on forever. He performed a cover of ‘Hidden Road’ by Hyunsik which was released in 1986.

Here’s the link to his Instagram, go give him a follow.
Here’s the link to his Spotify account.

If Jeong Sewoon and Jung Seung Hwan ever collab, I’m going to die.
