Mini Album Review: BoA – Starry Night

The ever amazing BoA released her new mini album: ‘Starry Night – The 2nd Mini-Album’ today. We love and support powerful women at M.E.A.L., so let’s dive right in.

‘Starry Night – The 2nd Mini-Album’

We start off with the song ‘Starry Night’ featuring Crush. He only just released his solo album last week, so be sure to go check out our review about that.

Crush and BoA wrote the lyrics together for this track and it is so horribly romantic. I love the blend of their vocals. It’s a soft, romantic Christmas song.

Side note; BoA looks absolutely amazing!! Like drop your skincare routine amazing…

Next up is ‘Black’, a track BoA helped write, compose and arrange. Multitalented, we stan. ‘Black’ is amazing. I love her husky talk-singing. The chorus is catchy and the little synths in the background make this a super fun song to listen to.

The third track is ‘Butterfly’. Make sure to listen to the piano, because it is popping off. Her vocals are amazing. Her little ‘ahs’ are really cute.

‘I Don’t Mind’ follows ‘Butterfly’. This one is funky y’all. It feels sexy and the instrumentation in this makes it extra so. This might be my favorite track of this mini-album.

The fifth track is ‘Think About You’. First off, a really cool baseline in this one. We’re staying in the funk zone. They did something really cool with the voice effect in the chorus. I wasn’t expecting that, but WOW. I love it!

‘Dry Flower’ is the last song on ‘Starry Night – The 2nd Mini-Album’. In the beginning I thought we were going to get a ballad, but the trumpets that joined in after the intro, had me shook. BoA helped with the writing in this one as well. Legend. Pay attention to the synths, they’re super fun. Also the vocals are so good!!

What a really fun mini album. I love the amount of funk and the vocal runs. I’m 100% listening to this for the rest of the week.
