Mini Album Review: APRIL – Da Capo

The girl group APRIL released their seventh mini album ‘Da Capo’ today and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Let’s dive straight into it!

‘Da Capo’

The first track is ‘OOPS I’M SORRY’ and from the very first second it’s a bop. It’s a little bit funky and just really fun and full of sass. It’s basically an apology, saying ‘sorry, I’m so pretty’ and we STAN self confidence.

Next up we have ‘Doll’ and it starts with a little audio clip of kids on a playground. Then we slide right into the instrumentals that set this song up to be a soft pop song with some very interesting key changes and plays on the rhythm. I’m totally digging the violins.

‘LALALILALA’ is the title track and also has a music video.

Gorgeous visuals, gorgeous vocals and a catchy hook. Something that struck me as kind of quirky was the fact that the girls are singing ‘lalalalilala’ despite the title being ‘lalalilala’. It’s a tiny difference but it made me a bit confused. Regardless, the song is a banger and super catchy. I’m sure that this song is going to be a hit! It’s fun, poppy and just plain awesome.

‘1,2,3,4’ is next with such a fast rhythm I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It’s a hype song of the GODS. If you’re going out for a run, put this on and watch yourself break your personal records.

Up next we have ‘You.zip’ which starts of groovy, more jazzy than any other track on ‘DA CAPO’. It kind of really lets their vocals shine though. I’ll totally be replaying this for a while. There’s some beautiful descending piano in there and some groovy guitar as well.

The next song is apparently only available on the CD itself. So I’m not sure if it’ll be on Spotify or not.

The song ‘Matter of time’ was previously released and is sung by two of the members, Lee Naeun and Lee Jinsol. It’s a beautiful ballad and the quality of the vocals is absolutely stunning.

‘Da Capo’ by APRIL is a fabulous mini album and deserves way more hype than I’ve seen so far.

The mini album isn’t available on their Spotify yet, but here’s their artist profile, so stay tuned.
