Label Deep Dive: Happy Robot Records

We’re back with a new label deep dive and this time we’re really going to the K-indie genre because we’re writing about Happy Robot Records.

If you’ve listened to any of the bigger bands of the indie scene, you’ll have undoubtedly seen it floating around. The label has been around since 2006 founded by Lee So-young with “a small wish of ‘I want to spread happy music.”

Happy Robot Records has somewhat merged with the label Photosynthesis into the company MPMG Music.

Artists

There are some pretty big indie bands under the label.

The band Daybreak has been with the label since their debut date in 2007.

Thornapple, who we recently wrote an Indie Pick about, has also been signed with the label since their debut.

The Solutions, one of my personal favorites, is under the label too.

The following three bands are insane and in my eyes they’re super popular. I’m talking about OurR, SURL and Lacuna.

The band SORAN who is also under the label is a new discovery. I thoroughly enjoy their sound so I might just have to dig a bit deeper into their discography.

Tell us which band your favorite is from this label, I’m curious! Happy Robot Records certainly has a very big influence on the Korean indie scene.

Go check out their store to discover amazing merch and records.
