[Indie Pick] Thornapple

We’re back with a new Indie Pick and this time we wanted to share the rock band Thornapple. They’ve been around for a while and have been making some amazing music. Let’s take a closer look!

Debut

The four member band Thornapple debuted in 2010 with the album ‘I Often Stammer and Forget the Way to Sleep’. Their title track ‘Cicadas cry even when it rains’ is a great alternative rock track. The album became quite popular and cemented the group’s place in the indie scene.

The track ‘Gills’ is also a must-listen track of their debut album.

Currently the members are Hong Dongkyun, Sim Jaehyun, Yoon Sunghyun and Bang Joseph. There was one member switch with Han Seungchan who left the band in 2015.

In 2014 they came back with the album ‘Strange Weather’ with the title track ‘Strange Topics’. I’m absolutely obsessed with the title track. From about 1.40 there’s such a cool switch-up. It’s awesome.

Then two years later they were back with the EP ‘Capital Disease’ with the title track ‘Seoul’.

Thornapple released the remake of ‘Happy Me’ in 2019.

Their most recent comeback was in 2019 with the full-lenght album ‘Enlightenment’.

If you like the band, absolutely listen to the Headphone Enlightenment Session. It’s a vibe.
