2022 is nearing its end, we saw plenty of trends and unexpected turns in K-Beauty. As we predicted in our 2022 Trends, the multipurpose stick took over this year, and it is now a must have item. Minimalistic and clean skincare products also became even more popular this year, and saw the surge of brands like Abib, and its active ingredient full products.
Make-Up Spatula
Glass Skin had a comeback this year. This trend never left, but it definitely became even more popular after the make-up spatula took the spotlight. Used by the most hyped and popular make-up artists in South Korea, the spatula is part of a brand new technique used to spread on the face a very thin layer of foundation for a glossy and very natural finish.
We are totally loving the even finish, and flawless look this new beauty tool gives, and we can see this trend become even more popular and take over the west in 2023.
Sustainable Practices
Last year we expected vegan and sustainable brands to take the spotlight, and many did. For 2023 we can see the K-beauty industry moving even further with sustainable practices, and going for waste free.
We have already seen a couple of brands putting out bio-degradable and fully recyclable packaging, we expect to see even further innovation with fabric cleanser pads, bar soap cleanser, and water free cleanser.
This trend will be an interesting one to keep an eye on.
Make-up – No Make-up
Coming from idol make-up artists, the ‘natural make-up look’ is super trendy these days. 2022 rookie NewJeans took the music industry and also the K-beauty one by storm, and everyone loved the youthful, fresh and natural look they have.
Several make-up artists are now teaching fans how to achieve this look, and more people are joining the trend. We have the feeling this one is staying for a bit in 2023.
Let us know which other trends you think will take over the K-beauty industry, and remember to keep an eye on us for a lot of K-Beauty and K-Fashion recommendations.
