[Indie Pick] zai.ro

We’re back with a new Indie Pick, this time we’re writing about zai.ro!

Zai.ro (Ahn Jung-jae) is a singer-songwriter and guitarist under chungchun music and has been active in the industry for a while.

His first public appearance that I could find was the one in the KBS show ‘Top Band’ where he eventually even became a finalist.

However, he was already known in the industry for his guitar skills. For example he is the guitarist you see in this acoustic version of SISTAR’s ‘Touch My Body’.

You can also see him in this video with Sungha Jung. Honestly this song is a dream.

2014 really was a good year for him because he also performed with 2NE1 for their performance on ‘Yu Huiyeol’s Sketchbook’.

We’ve featured one of his covers before in our segment DisKover The Cover. We were blown away by his performance on ‘I can see your voice’ where he covered ‘Really Really’ by WINNER.

Originals

It wasn’t until 2017 that he finally released his first full-length album ‘NEW GENERATION’. He wrote and composed all of the tracks.

If you want some instrumental goodness from that album, listen to this one.

Or this one.

If you want to hear his vocals, listen to this!

In 2019, he participated in the much talked about ‘SuperBand’. I still love all of the performances from that show so much.

Here’s his audition. The guitar shredding towards the end brought me so much joy.

I’m pretty sure he had everyone shook during the opening seconds of ‘Wooing’.

Last year he also released his new album ‘A to Z’.

In August he released his new album ‘Good Boy’.

One of the songs ‘Solitude’ he pre-released the month before. Just look at these lyrics.

His opening song ‘Voyage’ is such a beautiful instrumental track. It reminds me a little of the ‘August Rush’ soundtrack and I am in love.

To close off, I’ll just leave this last performance here when he was in SuperBand in the band Moné. Enjoy!

You can find him here on Instagram and his official Spotify channel is here.
