EP Review: KEN – Greeting

KEN from VIXX is back with his EP ‘Greeting’ to get us to feel our feelings. His voice lends itself beautifully for OSTs and he never disappoints with his solo releases. It’s his first solo EP, he’s only really released singles before. He’s due for his military enlistment in July so this is a temporary goodbye to his fans. Let’s dive in!

Greeting

The first track and also the title track is ‘Just for a moment’. It’s a beautiful ballad where his voice truly stands out. The man can SING.

The next song is ‘To us who have to endure’ featuring Monday Kiz. This was a pre-released song and came with a live video. This one hit me right in the gut. The combination of both their voices is incredible and Monday Kiz hitting that high note, brought me close to tears. What a fantastic duet this is!

‘With all my heart’ follows with a slightly more upbeat tone. I really liked the little shakers in the background. The guitar accompaniment is really fun and the twinkling piano is beautiful! The entire song feels like a small little thing, something very fragile you have to protect in your hand from the wind.

Next up is ‘Meteor Shower’. KEN co-composed the track. It’s a beautiful ballad, totally fit to be a K-drama OST.

‘So Romantic’ is up next and it’s a complete shift from the previous tracks. It has a more R&B vibe to it and has a lot of different samples thrown in the background. It’s epic and I’m totally here for it. Ken’s little ‘whoop’ is adorable! The bridge is *chef’s kiss*.

The last track is the instrumental version for ‘Just for a moment’.

Overall

‘Greeting’ by KEN is a really solid EP and I’m sure that the fans appreciate the temporary goodbye gift. We’d like to wish him the best of luck in the army, we hope that he stays healthy and safe. We’ll definitely be waiting for when he comes back.
