EP Review: ITZY – IT’z ME

2019 Rookies ITZY are back with their second EP ‘IT’z ME’. The members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna once more showed why they are monster rookies with this release. They are definitely setting themselves apart and we STAN. Let’s start this off.

IT’z ME

The title track ‘WANNABE’ kicks off this album with a strong concept mixed mis synths and electronic music. This dance track flows flawlessly with the members’ vocals and I personally feel that it could become a anthem of self-acceptance and love. Check out its music video below.

‘TING TING TING’ is next and for this track ITZY collaborated with Oliver Heldens. This song is Tomorrowland material and we are not surprised given the collaboration. The girls’ vocals blend perfectly with the tech house music track. And as a house music fan, I have to say that this is my favourite track. The choir harmonizing behind the main vocals was fire and I really loved the mixing in this song.

Next up is ‘THAT’S A NO NO’ and once more we go electronic. The auto tune used for the rapping section is something I did not expect but I absolutely loved it. It worked perfectly with the vocals and absolutely complemented the full vibe of the song.

NOBODY LIKE YOU’ changes things up with a pop-rock track. I really liked the electric guitar and drums mixed with vocals and harmonization of the members. This song is concert material and I can totally picture people hyping up this song and going crazy.

We go back to electronic music and synth with ‘YOU MAKE ME’. I particularly loved the bridge in this song and the rapping was just fire. ‘I DON’T WANNA DANCE’ follows it with a strong house music vibe. I personally feel that this song is perfect for clubbing, people jumping and dancing to disco lights and this song is the perfect mix.

‘24HRS’ closes this extended play with a strong vibe, tune and vocals. ‘ITZY for 24HRS’ is the concept and after listening to this full release I couldn’t agree more. The lyrics for both ’24HRS’ and ‘TING TING TING’ were written by Penomeco. We did a feature about him, if you’d like to discover more about this amazing rapper.

Make sure to check out this full EP below.

That’s it for the review for ‘IT’z ME’ by ITZY, let us know which song is your favorite!
