EP Review: GWSN – the Keys

The girl group GWSN is back with their new EP ‘the Keys’. We’re stoked because they’ve been releasing BOPS.

the Keys

‘BAZOOKA!’ is the first track and is also the title track that came with a new MV.

The MV is fun and filled with visuals. I really dig the electronic sound and the autotune that sometimes pops up. It’s cute and had me singing ‘bazooka’ before I realized my housemates were looking at me like I was crazy. So listen in public at your own risk.

‘the Aerialist (Wonderboy)’ is up next and I am in LOVE. The groovy guitar, the jazzy vocals had me hooked straight away. The piano riffs are lovely and is a cute little accent, especially when the vocals follow the same pattern. The ad-libs are a really nice addition as well. All in all 10/10.

Next up is ‘Tweaks ~ Heavy cloud but no rain’. The synths are really cool and it’s not something I’ve heard of GWSN before. It’s definitely a slower song. That bridge had me shook though. Honestly this song is amazing!!

The last track is ‘After the bloom (alone)’. The start isn’t as densely packed with different instrumentals, until the chorus hits. It’s another mid-tempo song, that really lets their vocals stand out. Again the bridge had me doing a double take, there’s this crazy couple of seconds of instrumentals and it just pops off. I kind of wish that section was longer though, I think it would have been interesting.

Overall, ‘the Keys’ by GWSN is an AMAZING EP. The way they mixed the songs, the vocals, the instrumentals and the beautiful titles will have me hooked for a long time. The only downside for me is that ‘the Keys’ only has four songs.

For real, check it out!
