‘Super Band’ is a variety show with a new concept. The creator’s idea was to give Korean Rock Music a bigger space in the industry and they definitely achieved it. This competition show is letting musicians have their moment and show off their talent.
All of the contestants are INCREDIBLY talented and I’m glad they created a space for them with a more organic approach, letting the musicians rearrange and prepare their own version of the covered song.
This week’s cover is ‘Creep’ originally sung by Radiohead. It is incredibly emotional and brought me to tears. Hoppipolla, the team existing of Ha Hyun-sang (vocals), Kim Young-so (guitar), Hong Jin-ho (cello) and I’LL (vocals/piano) chose to cover a classic which could have been risky for them, but they delivered. They gave the song the performance it deserves.

The inclusion of the cello and double bass gave this cover a different vibe and I felt that it made it even more emotional than already is. The vocals were stunning, full of emotion and it’s probably one of the best covers of the song I have seen in my life. It seems like I wasn’t the only one to think so because Hoppipolla eventually won the show.
Here at M.E.A.L. we are looking forward to see what’s next for this new group, and what new performance and music they will make and bring us to tears once more.
