Our dear Chuu is back with her latest mini-album ‘Only cry in the rain’. We’re beyond stoked so let’s dive right in!
Only cry in the rain
We start off with the title track ‘Only cry in the rain’ which is a beautiful synth pop track that really shows musical strength as it’s a very cohesive piece, with outstanding vocals and a catchy hook. I love this mature side of Chuu as it shows her growth as an artist.
Also I love the music video, it feels very 80s coded.
We’re going groovy with ‘Back in town’. According to the album description it: “expresses the moment when you encounter unfamiliar yet familiar emotions in a city you left and returned to.” I love the bass and vocal layering in this!
‘Kiss a Kitty’ is up next. We’re getting a disco pop moment with a lot of humour and memorable lines. I’m never going to get that hook out of my mind. It’s a vibe, and a shot of serotonin.
‘Je t’aime’ comes along with dream pop with a vintage guitar sound and a cool beat. Chuu is going for a love confession in the lyrics and it’s a sweet moment.
We’re closing off with the track ‘No More’. The album description describes it as “an anthem for those who now want to love themselves more without apologizing to others.” It feels powerful but I think the progression could have exploded that feeling more.
