Album Review: HA:TFELT – 1719

HA:TFELT (Park Ye-eun) just released her first full length album ‘1719’. We are super excited for this release as it is the first that this legend with more that a decade in the industry has put out as a soloist. Let’s wait no more and dive right in.

1719

Life Sucks’ opens up this album with personal storytelling, I really loved this song lyrically, the flow and the rhythm are extremely cool and Ye-eun’s airy voice in some parts of the song felt like a whisper in my ears. “Imma pull the trigger (…)” with that violin in the back left me astonished and in love with the style of this track.

Piercing’ follows it featuring THAMA, and this song is just super groovy and has an R&B style that fits HA:TFELT’s voice. This song took me back to the R&B collabs and groups of the 90s and it was just fresh and super dope to listen to.

Featuring Gaeko we have ‘I Wander’ starting with an electric guitar and Ye-eun’s voice. Could it get any better? Yes, it does. Gaeko and HA:TFELT harmonizing and his rapping is top quality music. Nothing else has to be said. ‘Pluhmm’ is next with a more electronic and synth track that makes it just perfect to vibe to. “I am a Gryffindor girl (…)” will remain as a legendary line in the music industry. Period.

Read Me’ is a song that seriously shows how underrated HA:TFELT is as a vocalist. This acoustic track just shows how incredible she is, not just at singing but also at rapping. ‘Cigar’ plays next with an electro-pop inspired track and a feel good spirit that had me smile while listening to it.

Halfway into this release is ‘Make Love’ and as expected by the title it’s a low tempo and smooth song with a lot of electric guitar and lustful vocals, in other words an absolute HIT.

Satellite’ feat. ASH ISLAND starts off and even though this song has a way brighter and up-beat tempo, the flow of it feels almost nostalgic. I loved how the different rhythms and vocals were layered and ASH ISLAND’s rap was such a nice addition to the flow of the song.

The title track of this album ‘Sweet Sensation’ feat. SOLE is next and I loved how happy and glittering this song feels. The music video is just natural and organic. The scenes are adorable and the two pups are just SO CUTE. Here is the MV below.

Changing the mood we have ‘Solitude’ with a sentimental but happy flow. I stan HA:TFELT the rapper and I want to listen more of it. ‘3mins’ featuring CHOIZA comes next with a similar tone and a softer tempo. I particularly liked how CHOIZA and Ye-eun’s voice complemented each other in this song, both voices mixed harmoniously even though they have a very different pitch.

Bluebird’ starts off strong with a piano playing on top of the vocals, and evolves into this breathtaking song with an incredible and beautiful ambience. ‘Sky Gray’ follows that with a groovy pop-ish rhythm and some incredible singing.

Finishing this album is ‘How to love’ and I seriously need an live acoustic version of this song. What a way to finish this incredible album with amazing vocals, captivating vocals and rhythm. An absolute bop!

Make sure to listen to the full release below, and just listen to her full discography. HA:TFELT is full of talent and deserves a lot more attention.
