[Actor Spotlight] Jeon Do-yeon

We’re back with a new Actor Spotlight and this time we wanted to take a closer look at the brilliant Jeon Do-yeon.

Jeon mixed modeling and acting at the beginning of her career in 1990. Her first few roles were in ‘Our Heaven’ (1992) and ‘Scent of Love’ in 1994.

Her breakthrough came in 1997 with her role in the film ‘The Contact’, directed by Chang Yoon-hyun which was the second-highest grossing film of that year. For her role she received the Best New Actress award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Grand Bell Awards.

The following few years she gained more acclaim with her roles in ‘A Promise’, ‘The Harmonium in My Memory’ and ‘Happy End’.

Other prominent roles were in the romantic comedy ‘I Wish I Had a Wife’ (2001), ‘No Blood No Tears’ (2002) and ‘Untold Scandal’.

An international breakthrough came in the shape of the film ‘Secret Sunshine’ (2007) which made her the first Korean actress to win Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival.

More recent roles she played in series like ‘Memories of the Sword’, ‘A Crash Course in Romance’, the Netflix film ‘Kill Boksoon’.
