This time for our Actor Spotlight, we are sharing the career of a multi-talented actress that has been around for a couple of years. Let’s dive into Go Min-Si’s career.
Directing beginnings
Born in 1995, Go Min-Si debuted as director and actress in 2016 with the film ‘2016’, with this film she won the Grand Prize in the 2016 Three Minutes Film Festival.
After this very impressive debut, she went onto small supporting roles for the dramas ‘My Sassy Girl’, ‘Hello, My Twenties! 2’ and ‘Meloholic’ in 2017. During this year she also participated in the web drama ‘Absolutely Perfect Man’.
In 2018, she had small cameos in the comedy ‘Welcome to Waikiki’ and the drama ‘Live’, and also landed supporting roles for the drama ‘The Smile Has Left Your Eyes’ and the drama special ‘Forgotten Season’.
Breakthrough
This same year she also participated in the movie ‘The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion’, her role in this film earned Go Min-Si the 2018 Popular Star Award in the Korean Best Star Awards.
Min-Si started 2019 with her participation in the drama film ‘The Battle: Roar to Victory’, followed up by her role in the Netflix series ‘Love Alarm’ and the thriller series ‘Secret Boutique’.
With the last one, she won the Best New Actress award and the 2019 SBS Drama Awards.
Go Min-Si rose to the spotlight after her participation in the 2020 Netflix series ‘Sweet Home’. In 2021 she landed her first main role with the series ‘Youth of May’, which was followed by the drama ‘Jirisan’ and the second season of ‘Love Alarm’.
Throughout her career, Go Min-Si has established herself as a multi-talented actress, she has kept her portfolio diverse with works across many genres and her very unique and powerful acting style. She is set to be part of the cast for the upcoming film ‘Smuggling’ in 2022.
