[Review] Dreamcatcher – [Dystopia: Lose Myself]

The girls from Dreamcatcher are back with their new mini-album ‘[Dystopia: Lose Myself]’. I’ve been so stoked for this ever since I saw the teasers. They all looked so good!

[Dystopia: Lose Myself]

We start off with the ‘Intro’. It sets the tone with broody, foreboding EDM.

After that we get the title track ‘BOCA’.The word boca in Spanish means mouth, so the part of the choreo in the chorus makes total sense. The track plays with the intensity level and goes from soft to hard in the blink of an eye. I was so shook I had to listen to it a couple of times in a row. I’m here for the hype though. Dami has me wrecked with her visuals and her rap. The same goes for Gahyeon, the pink hair is just *chef’s kiss*. That electric guitar in the background is SO GOOD.

‘Break The Wall’ comes after that. The track gives me early 2000s English indie rock and I am here for it. I love the effect on the vocals in the opening. I’m getting Evanescence flashbacks, but that’s by no means a bad thing. I’m simmering in nostalgia right now. I love this track so much. That bridge with the echoey guitar is everything.

Next up is ‘Can’t get you out of my mind’. This is another throwback to my teenage years with the Europop vibe. The entire track is in English. Make your own Tomorrowland in your house and add this song to the playlist because it fits so well.

The last track is ‘Dear’ which is completely written by Jiu. She also has co-composing and co-arranging credits. The piano sounds wonderfully warm and the entire song makes me feel so emotional. In the album description they write that the song expresses the feeling of the members towards the fandom InSomnia. My heart…

Overall

It’s no surprise that the mini-album ‘[Dystopia: Lose Myself]’ by Dreamcatcher is fantastic. Leez and Ollounder work really hard to deliver us this wonderful content together with the girls. This time Dami co-wrote ‘Break The Wall’ and R&B singer Maddox co-wrote the English song ‘Can’t get you out of my mind’.Go check out the mini-album on Spotify here.
