The boys from Xdinary Heroes are back with their latest album ‘IMPULSE’. We’re super stoked so let’s take a closer look at their music. “he new album explores the emotions and situations stemming from desire in various ways, ranging from the will to run unhesitatingly toward a goal, to the instinct to be drawn to the forbidden, and to choices that test oneself.”
We start off with the title track ‘Obsessed with Youth’. This is a great rock track with solid synths and a cool build-up to the bridge and outro. I enjoyed the vocal hook and the general progression.
Next up is ‘Give Up The Ghost’. We’re getting a modern alternative rock track that contains “a desperate plea not to be let go.” It portrays the moment of desperately shouting to hold onto something that’s fading away. I enjoyed the rough texture of the instrumentals.
‘Slashhh!’ introduces the EDM synths that blends solid guitar riffs and an upbeat sound. This was an interesting addition to the album that had me surprised but honestly I’m vibing with it.
‘u and me in arguments’ is a heavy rock track with “the raw energy of metalcore with a modern production.” I enjoyed the hook and the screamo vocals. This was a very solid listen.
We’re starting with fun guitars with ‘You Right There’. There’s a fun addition of a little piano section before some of the verses. The chorus is catchy and has a nice melody to it.
‘Love in Dystopia’ brings us a unique shoegaze sound which I personally enjoy a lot. The lyrics compare a break-up to a dystopia.
The album closes with the track ‘Breathe in, Breathe out’ which is an emotional track based on an acoustic band sound. “As the final track on the album ‘IMPULSE,’ which captures desire and impulse, it sings about the emptiness felt at the end of a journey where one endlessly chases desire and obtains everything.”
