V01D is a brand new idol rock band formed under IX Entertainment. They debuted last week with their first mini-album ‘[01]’. The five members Jo Juyeon, Kevin Park, Jung Jiseob, Song Uchan and Shinnosuke are a lineup consisting of strong, creative talent. We were able to ask them some questions about their debut.
About V01D
Their name V01D combines the word ‘void’ and the numbers 01.
What does being number 1 mean for the group?
“저희가 말하는 넘버원은 순위를 의미하기보다는, 보이드의 음악을 좋아해 주시는 분들에게 만큼은 항상 최고의 팀이 되는 거라고 생각합니다. 그 마음에 부끄럽지 않게 계속 좋은 음악을 들려드리고 싶어요.”
“ When we say we want to be number one, we don’t necessarily mean rankings. What we really mean is being the best team we can be for the people who love V01D’s music. We want to keep making music we can be proud of, and that our fans can truly enjoy.”
How did you get together as a group? How was the first meeting?
“첫 번째 멤버인 송유찬군이 대표님과의 미팅 때 밴드를 하고 싶다고 말씀드렸고, 대표님께서 같이 멤버를 모아보자고 하셔서 그때부터 밴드 멤버를 찾기 시작했어요.
처음 만났을 땐 다들 어색했지만 목표가 똑같은 사람들끼리 모였기 때문에 금방 친해질 수 있었습니다.”
“Our first member, SONG U CHAN, told the CEO during a meeting that he wanted to start a band. The CEO suggested that we try gathering members together, and that’s how we began looking for bandmates. When we first met, things were a bit awkward, but since we all shared the same goal, we quickly became close.”
What are the aspirations of V01D?
“첫 번째로는 국내에 있는 페스티벌에 많이 서고 싶어요. 펜타포트나 부산 페스티벌, 원더리벳 등 다양한 페스티벌 무대에서 보이드를 증명하고 싶습니다. 그렇게 많은 팬분께 사랑 받고, 보이드도 오아시스처럼 시간이 많이 지나도 사람들이 편하게 들을 수 있는 항상 곁에 있는 밴드였으먼 좋겠어요.”
“First of all, we’d love to perform at more festivals here in Korea. We want to prove ourselves on stages like PENTAPORT MUSIC FESTIVAL, BUSAN FESTIVAL, and WONDERLIVET, among others.
Through that, We hope to be loved by many fans and, like Oasis, become a timeless band people can always come back to.”

With ‘[01]’ they released their first mini-album. The single ‘ROCKROCK’ was their pre-release.
Is there something the fans should pay special attention to in this album? Or something you’re extra proud of?
“ 페스티벌에서 팬들과 함께 즐기고 싶어 만든 곡 ‘ROCK ROCK’은 마지막 후렴에 다 같이 부를 수 있는 파트가 있어서 다같이 불러 주시면 좋을 것 같습니다.”
“We created the song ‘ROCK ROCK’ to enjoy together with fans at festivals. There’s a part in the final chorus that everyone can sing along to, so we hope everyone joins in and sings with us.”
This is your very first mini-album. How did you experience the last couple of days?
“ 지난 며칠 동안 설레기도 하고 긴장도 많이 됐는데요. 그래도 첫 앨범으로 많은 분들께 인사드릴 수 있어서 정말 뜻깊은 시간들이었습니다.”
“ Over the past few days, we’ve been both excited and pretty nervous. Still, it’s been really meaningful for us to be able to introduce ourselves to so many people with our first album.”
How did you find the debut showcase? Did you have fun?
SHINNOSUKE : “We didn’t really have many chances to perform for almost a year, so it felt pretty frustrating at times. But we finally got to play in front of people again, and it reminded me how much I truly enjoy being on stage.
I’m still not completely comfortable speaking Korean in front of an audience, and since there are so many activities beyond just performing, I did have some concerns as well.”
You helped write and arrange the lyrics for the tracks. How was it to create music together? Was it easy to find synergy?
“ 다들 좋아하는 장르가 달라서 처음엔 쉽지 않았지만, 각자의 의견을 적절히 조율하며 맞춰 나갔어요.
앞으로는 각자 곡을 쓸 수 있어서 본인이 만든 곡은 만든 사람이 주도적으로 이끌어 갈 수 있도록 하자고 합의를 했습니다.”
“At first, it wasn’t easy since everyone liked different genres, but we learned to adjust and balance our opinions. Moving forward, we agreed that each member can write their own songs, and whoever creates a song will take the lead in guiding it.”
In the album description it says that the album “chronicles the lifespan of an emotion.” What was the most gripping lyric in the album for you and why?
KEVIN PARK : “The most gripping lyric for me was “빛보다 더 선명했었던, 그 미래 전부였던 널.” Just as our album chronicles the lifespan of an emotion (love), I believe that this lyric from ‘LUNA’ captures both the bittersweet and poignant aspects of a love that was inevitably destined to end. With ‘LUNA’ being the last track of the album, I believe this part truly marks the end of what was once a beautiful emotion.”
You wrote a lot about love in this album, what other emotions would you like to write about?
“저희의 노래를 듣고 하루 하루 힘내서 살아 갈 수 있도록 희망적인 메시지를 담은 노래를 만들고 싶습니다.”
“We want to create songs with hopeful messages that help people find strength and get through each day.”
Looking forward
What can we expect to see from V01D in 2026?
KEVIN PARK : “In 2026, please look forward to a V01D that continues to challenge expectations and develop as artists and musicians. We will be working hard to prepare for our next album where we hope to show many more sides to V01D with a distinct artistic and musical direction. Because we aspire to be number 1 in not just music, but for performance and visuals as well, please await a V01D that continues to strive to be the very best.”
Do you have a dream project you’d like to work on or something that you’d like to work toward?
“앞으로 꼭 해보고 싶은 프로젝트는 다른 아티스트분들과의 콜라보입니다. 함께 곡 작업을 하거나 같은 무대에서 콘서트를 하며 서로 다른 색의 음악이 어우러지는 순간을 만들어보고 싶습니다.”
“A project we definitely want to try in the future is collaborating with other artists. We’d love to create moments where different musical styles come together, whether by collaborating on songs or performing on the same stage in a concert.”
How do you want people to describe your music?
KEVIN PARK : “I want V01D’s music to be recognizable by everyone around the world. To us, that means having our own color and sound that is so unique to us that people can easily distinguish us from other artists. As for our musical worldview, we want for our music to be deeply intertwined with the stories, messages, and emotions we want to share, creating a coherent artistic and musical universe that is only V01D’s.”
