[Review] Yoon Du Jun – Daybreak

Yoon Du Jun, member of HIGHLIGHT and fantastic actor just released his first mini-album ‘Daybreak’. It’s his first solo venture and we’re really excited! Let’s dive in.

Daybreak

We start off with the song ‘0:00am’. In the album description he wrote that this album is for anyone who has trouble sleeping at night. He wanted to let them know that they’re not alone and he wanted to offer this mini-album as comfort. ‘0:00am’ really hits that spot. It’s very slow with its R&B sound and soft, buttery vocals.

The same vibe continues in his title track ‘Lonely Night’. This one came with a brand new music video. It’s very stylized and I really dig the interesting samples they used. The bass is fantastic and overall, I really like this style.

Next up is ‘Fool Of Love’ featuring the R&B singer MOON. ‘Fool Of Love’ feels a little bit more upbeat. The stylistic choices with the little effects on the vocals are really fun and the piano breathes some air into it. There’s some groove to it. MOON’s feature is fantastic as always. She hasn’t disappointed me yet.

The fourth track is ‘Save Me’. We start off great with some lovely guitar. We’re back to the soft songs. The ballad fits Yoon Du Jun’s voice so well.

We close the album with the track ‘Be My Light’. This is a thank you song to his fans who waited so long for him. It kind of feels like a K-drama OST. ‘Be My Light’ is absolutely lovely and begs for a repeat listen, especially because of that falsetto.

Overall

‘Daybreak’ by Yoon Du Jun is absolutely lovely and well worth the wait. I really like the message behind the entire mini-album and I’m sure his fans will as well.
