WOODZ is back with new music and a concept we have not seen before. For his fourth mini-album he decided to “focus more on the music his fans listen to rather than the performance aspect” (MELON description).
This new take is accompanied by rock-based tracks that we are sure will be absolute musical gems. WOODZ already has a solid discography and we are beyond excited to see how he is exploring with styles and genres.
Let’s listen to this mini-album.
COLORFUL TRAUMA
Starting off we get ‘Dirt on my leather‘ and as expected this song is a musical throwback with WOODZ signature vocal power. The 80s vibe in this song is unreal and the heavy electric guitar and vocal play are just so good and fun to listen to. What a start!
We go onto ‘HIJACK‘ with a very interesting pop punk style mixed with rapping. This song has a rather unexpected mix but I really dig its composition and style. The angsty singing and ad-libs are excellent. Overall this song goes hard and I loved it.
2000s pop/rock and K-pop meet in the title track ‘I Hate You‘. I am living for the emo vibes in this single. The song is an amazing listen, but its music video makes it even better.
The early 2000s emo/punk aesthetics take over in this MV and the band and WOODZ killed it with their performance. They are really bringing the fashion back and staying authentic with the style and headbanging. A Masterpiece. Watch it below.
We go alternative with ‘Better and better‘ mixing genres and delivering a unique listening experience. The high notes, emotions and feel in this track are just perfection. Last but not least is ‘Hope to be like you‘ with a more nostalgic vibe and beautiful singing. I am living for the soft singing and stunning composition of this single. It goes straight to the heart.
WOODZ indeed delivered a listening experience for the fans in ‘COLORFUL TRAUMA’. Each song is balanced and beautifully done, this release is a total killer and he just keep putting our expectations higher and higher.
