[Review] Rocket Punch – YELLOW PUNCH

The girls from Rocket Punch are back with their fourth EP ‘YELLOW PUNCH‘. This girl group under Woollim Entertainment have kept their discography super fun and charming since their debut.

Its been nine months since their last release and we were waiting for their comeback, so let’s dive into the music of this EP.

YELLOW PUNCH

A mix of genres and beats sets the mood in the intro ‘YELLOW PUNCH‘. This one merges flawlessly with the title track ‘CHIQUITA‘ and for this single we are going vintage with some 80s disco influences and a very retro synth. This song is an absolute bop and I loved how it mixes more modern EDM beats but really goes in with the disco vibe.

The colour scheme used for the music video is super eye catching. They really stuck to the theme and the single mixes the old vibes with the gorgeous aesthetics and stunning outfits. The members look amazing and the full style of this music video is rather minimalistic but fantastic nonetheless. Watch it below.

Staying in the retro synth style ‘In My World‘ plays next but this time we get a touch of electropop with this song. This music style suits the members fantastically, the sound, rhythm and full concept is fun, cool and a bit unexpected.

We get funky with ‘Red Balloon‘. The R&B and pop mix in this song is amazing, the ad-libs, harmonisations and vocals are perfection. The hook is super catchy and I really enjoyed how minimalistic but groovy the sound is.

Love More‘ follows up with a soft pop style and charming singing. This song is very soft and has a bit of an indie song feel that was super fresh to listen to from an idol group.

Last on this mini-album is ‘LOUDER‘. Closing this release on a high note with a hype song with a house track and an awesome heavy bass. This song was an unexpected ending for this EP but I am living for the style and flow of this track. Just get ready to party.

Rocket Punch delivered a solid mini-album with a fantastic mix of genres. This release is a non-skip, each song has something unique and fun to offer to listeners. Check it out here.
