[Review] ONEW – FLOW

ONEW is back to stun us with his latest mini-album ‘FLOW’. In the album description they wrote this: “‘FLOW’ was produced with a focus on connecting with the public, that is, songs that they can enjoy together.” I’m beyond curious, so let’s dive in!

FLOW

We start off with the title track ‘Beat drum‘. I love this. It’s catchy, has a sick beat and the correct amount of whimsy in the chorus. The synths in the backing track are great and help enhance the flavour.

Next up is ‘Hola!’. Kim Eana who worked on his previous title track ‘Circle’ collabed on this track as well. ‘Hola!’ is a soft pop track with light synths and a cool snare drums.

‘MAESTRO’ starts off with some groovy seventies bass. It’s funky, charming and the vocal layering is superb. Ugh, ONEW is fantastic! I love this track so much. The Daft Punk-esque vocal distortions were super dope.

After that comes ‘Shape of my heart’. We’re going a bit R&B with the vocals on this one, alongside a vintage piano line and some old cassette tape grit in the back. Honestly this is a super cool track.

All Day’ is a song that was pre-released last month.

The closing track is ‘Focus’. I am obsessed with the build-up in the chorus, it was unexpected but DAMN was it good.

Overall ONEW keeps on discovering his sound with ‘FLOW’. Go ahead and check out the release on Spotify here.
