[Review] MCND – THE EARTH: SECRET MISSION Chapter.1

The boys from MCND are back with their new EP ‘THE EARTH: SECRET MISSION Chapter.1’. Let’s dive right in!

THE EARTH: SECRET MISSION Chapter.1

We start off with the title track ‘Movin”. This track is all about overcoming obstacles to be able to perform and meet their fans, GEM. It’s a hip-hop based song with fun, energetic beats and very dynamic rapping. It’s a hype song that will get you moving in no time.

Next up is ‘Cat Waltz’. This dance song has some really cool layering with a lot of cute samples added. I like the softer rap verses and the balance between the singing and the rap. It’s fun, cheerful and an unbelievably nice listen.

‘BowwowwoW’ follows that with a retro groove inspired Dance vibe. This is such a quirky, Gen Z song. It’s a total earworm with a catchy hook that will have you sing ‘bowwowwow’ even when you’re just making a cup of tea. It’s adorable. The back and forth in the bridge adds to the song’s charm.

Next up

After that comes ‘H.B.C’. The song mixes Trap, Moombahton and electronic music. It’s a vibe and I’m kind of surprised it worked. It feels cohesive. There’s a lot of power and energy thrown in. It has a nice build-up and drop. The bridge is sick. This is the kind of song you go crazy on when you’re at a club.

‘Play Pungak’ introduces a mix of hip-hop and traditional Korean music. There’s a jazzy piano in the background which is really fun. This might just be my favorite B-side. It’s catchy, has some great vocals and energetic rap verses. They play with the tempo super well and it’s a really cool listen.

The last track of the EP is ‘REASON’. A couple of weeks ago they released the video for this track to introduce the new chapter in the MCND universe. It’s not the full song, the longer version is on Spotify.

Overall, ‘THE EARTH: SECRET MISSION Chapter.1’ by MCND is a pretty solid mini-album. It’s a cohesive listen while still showing their variety of strengths. You can find the mini on Spotify here.
