[Review] Lee Jin Hyuk – Splash!

The UP10TION member Lee Jin Hyuk is back with his first mini-album ‘Splash!’. Let’s dive in because his previous release was fire!

Splash!

The first track is the title track ‘Bedlam’ that came with a new music video.

It’s a fun summer track, with awesome effect in the MV and feels very dynamic and fresh.

Next up is ‘Picasso’ and it starts off with this old timey piano before sliding into some heavy synths that really get you hyped up. The chorus is super fun and the autotuned backing vocals add some extra spice to it.

The third track is ‘Rival’. We get some heavy duty rapping on this one. There are some awesome samples being used in the chorus, while in the verses itself the instrumentals are quite thin. It adds to the build-up for the chorus though, which is really fun!

‘Holly Jolly’ follows that. In similar style of the previous songs, this one is just super fun to listen to. This one however, feels a bit more on the silly side. It’s incredibly cute and when the piano comes in it adds to the cuteness.

After ‘Holly Jolly’ we get the track ‘Playground’. Lee Jin Hyuk really amped up the adorableness factor in this mini. His previous release was sexy and dark, but this one is filled with cute and fun songs. ‘Playground’ falls under that as well. I like the little effects and the kids cheering in the background.

‘Sweet Rain’ is next and feels very uplifting. It’s softer than the other singles, not in the sense of tempo, but more as in the message. In the album description he writes that this song is meant to be a comfort to his fans. That’s just the sweetest thing.

The last track ‘Don’t worry’ is a CD exclusive so I wasn’t able to listen to that one. If you have bought the CD, let us know what you think of it!

Overall

‘Splash!’ by Lee Jin Hyuk is a very wholesome mini-album. I like the lightheartedness of all the singles and it’s just very cute all together.

The mini-album isn’t on Spotify yet, but here’s his Artist Profile, so keep an eye out.
