[Review] Kang Daniel – Glow to Haze

Kang Daniel is back with his new mini-album ‘Glow to Haze’. We’re super curious so let’s take a closer look!

“Like love, like a dream, everything starts from a shining moment. The emotions that spread like light have become hazy like fog. And I face myself again in that haze. “

Glow To Haze

We start off with the track ‘Movie Star’. I really love the layering of this track. We’re going for a pop R&B moment with very dreamy synths and a killer guitar towards the end. What a lovely opener!

Next up is the title track ‘Episode’. This is a really fun track. We’re going for Latin rhythms and dreamy R&B sounds on top of an 808 bass. Kang Daniel’s vocals are lovely and the choreo is really cool. I loved the visual storytelling in the music video.

‘Love Game’ tells the story of the push and pull between lovers. I absolutely love the guitars in this and the very plucky piano line. This is another pop R&B blend but he does it so well! Loved the beat here as well.

Next up is ‘One Call Away’. In this one we’re longing for an ended relationship that left us with happy memories. It’s a softer track, with a very nice sound space. I love the ambient bits in this. The synths are delightful.

The album closes of with ‘Little Bit Lost’. The low vocal had me double checking the track for a second. According to the album description this “is a song about a longing to be a little more freely lost while wandering in the emptiness of familiarity, and a journey of the heart that eventually tries to find itself again in it.”
