[Review] JINHO – CHO:RD

Pentagon’s JINHO released his new EP ‘CHO:RD’ today. We’re super stoked as we’re expecting killer vocals and charisma. JINHO has writing and composing credits on almost every track which is super impressive. Let’s dive in!

JINHO

We start off with the first of two title tracks; ‘Goodbye with you’. This is a super cute rock ballad with really cool electric guitars in the backing track. I absolutely adore his vocals here. The progression of ‘Goodbye with you’ is fitting.

A couple of weeks ago he released the Japanese version of the track ‘Teddy Bear’. This is his second title track. This is a charming R&B track with a catchy melody and a bit of an oldschool vibe to it.

‘Dear Precious One, Our Shimmering Days’ comes up next with a solid pop rock intro. I liked this part of the album description: “it is a song that contains comfort and support to all the youth who want to go through their worries and rough paths together.” It’s so wholesome and reminds me a lot of Japanese rock anime openings.

Next up is ‘OVER’. We’re sticking with the rock theme but we’re going a bit grungier. ‘OVER’ is a autobiographical story where JINHO tells his own story. The guitars are popping off in the backing track and I would love to see this live with a band. I can only imagine the impact!

The closing track is ‘Bad Criminal’. This is a pop track that is groovy as hell! The bass is going places and creating a really smooth and catchy bop.

Overall ‘CHO:RD’ is a really solid mini-album by JINHO. Go ahead and listen to it here on Spotify.
