IU is back to stun us with her new mini-album ‘The Winning’. Let’s take a closer look!
The Winning
We start off with the title track ‘Shopping’. It’s an electro pop-rock track with a fun hook and IU’s usual stunning vocals. In the album description she writes that she hopes this song gives the listeners “the courage to be confident in what they want.” It’s wholesome and has a really nice momentum towards the bridge. I really enjoyed the electric guitar in the backing track.
DPR Ian makes a surprise appearance in this MV as he directed the music video which is honestly kind of iconic.
After that comes the pre-released ‘Holssi’ which we are absolutely obsessed by.
The next track is a special one. ‘Ssh’ features artists Hyein (NewJeans), Jo Won Sun and a special narration done by Patty Kim. We’re going for blues in this one. I love the ambience created; this is quite a new genre for IU. This is such a unique track, it’ll leave you wanting more. I especially can’t wait for the MV.
The music video will come out on the 23rd.
Next up is ‘Love Wins All’ which was also a pre-release. We’re still sobbing.
The closing track is ‘I stan U’. This is such a beautiful, cinematic song. This is the type of song that makes you want to stand on top of a mountain to shout out loud. Listen to this with full volume on for all of the feels.
