[Review] Cafe Midnight

In this week’s drama review we want to share a short web-drama, with three seasons, a heart-warming storyline and a lot of magic. Let’s talk about ‘Cafe Midnight’.

Cafe Midnight 

Written and directed by Goo Ja Joon, the first season of this series centers around Ha Jae Yeong (Song Won Yeob). He has had a couple of tough times in life, and hits rock-bottom after being dismissed from his job, and unfairly accused of stalking. 

Jae Yeong is mysteriously given an invite to a new coffee shop in the middle of the mountain. One evening he decides to find this peculiar place and as soon as he enters he meets the Master of the Cafe Midnight (Shin Joo Hwan), who invites him to work for him in the cafe. 

Jae Yeong starts working in Cafe Midnight, and soon finds out about how special this place is, how it links people across eras, and more importantly how it gives him a second chance to meet important people in his life he believed lost. 

Cafe Midnight: Hit Up! Hit Up!

Directed by Jung Yoon Soo, the second installment of ‘Cafe Midnight’ brings the story of Sun Ah Young (Yoon Bora), an overworked designer working in a gaming firm. One day she decides that she’s had enough of her stressful workplace and decides to hand in her notice. She packs her belongings and decides to spontaneously go to Busan. 

Without a plan or even accommodation, in a twist of fate she stumbles upon ‘Sky Garden Guest House’ and meets the owner of this accommodation Cha Jun Gi (Shin Yoon Seop). She also visits the mysterious Cafe Midnight, and during this adventure Ah Young settles her feelings of frustration while reconciling with herself, people in her life, and even discovering new things about herself, her mother, and close friend.

Cafe Midnight: The Curious Stalker

The adventures in Cafe Midnight never stop, for its third season directed once again by Yoon Soo, this mini-series talks about family, friends and lost connections. 

Son Ji Woo (Kim Do Young) is an eighteen year old high school student who focuses a lot of his effort to protect his mother with alzheimer. She disappears very often trying to find the mysterious Cafe Midnight, but so far she hasn’t been able to find once again this place.

Ji Woo worries about his mother, and while talking with his high school friends Kang Sun Min (Kim In Yi), a paper plane with a map showing the location of the mysterious Cafe Midnight lands before hin.  

While following his mother, he notices that he is close to the direction in the map, and decides to take a look at this mysterious cafe. He finds it, and while visiting this peculiar place he will find out things about his future as well as the past. 

Reconnecting and drinking coffee

The premise behind all the seasons of ‘Cafe Midnight’ are about reconnecting to oneself and the people around us  Each season has a different special factor and each storyline has a valuable message about life, love and family.
