BIG Naughty is back with the EP ‘NANGMAN’. We have been looking forward to this new release. He completely blew us away last year with ‘Bucket List‘, and since then has constantly put out amazing singles and killer collabs.
This mini-album includes a few pre-released singles and amazing features. Let’s dive in and check the music.
NANGMAN
Kicking off this EP is ‘Do You Believe In Romance‘ with narration by Kim Kihyo. This single is starting this release on a very artistic and interesting way. The riff and vocals make this song emotional, intense and an interesting listening experience. I really liked how well-layered and mixed this single is. Definitely a strong starting point for this EP.
Next up is the title track ‘Romance Symphony‘ featuring CHANGMO and Jay Park. Starting with an immaculate sound and vibe, this single just gets better and better with its jazzy orchestration and flow. I absolutely love CHANGMO’s rapping in this song it definitely added an amazing touch, and Jay Park’s outro was just smooth. There’s quite a few easter eggs within Jay Park’s verse.
The music video takes us back to the jazz era with vintage aesthetics and a wonderful direction. This MV feels like a short romance film, the colours, the sets, the band, all of it was perfectly placed to create the full ambience and it is just beautiful. Check it below.
The pre-released single ‘Lovey Dovey‘ featuring meenoi follows up giving heart-warming vibes, I just love how cute and soft this single is.
Dvwn is featured in ‘Poker‘, the acoustic orchestration in this song goes straight to the feels, and the vocals are just breathtaking. This single is a total listening experience. Perfection in a bit over three minutes. The talent.
The pre-released singles ‘Vancouver‘ and ‘Beyond Love‘ featuring 10CM follow that up. Both singles have a bit of an indie feel to them, but ‘Vancouver’ hits different. I really liked his rap delivery and full flow for this single. ‘Beyond Love’ leans more on the soft side and I really dig the chill style.
Poems and songs
Featuring pH-1, we get the single ‘Actor‘ and from the very beginning this song starts to impress listeners with a super interesting and unique intro. The transition to more groovy beats mixed with pH-1’s usual unmatched rap delivered, make this single the full package. I absolutely loved the style, sound and killer layering.
Back to a more classy and jazzy sound, we get ‘Bridal Chorus‘ featuring Dbo. The contrast of rapping and singing in this song is unbelievably good, the musical build up has a cinematic style I loved. The sectioning is incredible, and the angsty style going on in this single made it super memorable.
‘Hachiko‘ featuring Sion, Yescoba and Dayoung Ahn, takes over to surprise listeners once again with VOCAL power. This collaboration totally blew me away, the emotions poured into it were incredible. The addition of the choir for the last section was breath-taking, and what I liked the most is how this single features incredibly talented indie artists.
‘Period,‘ closes this release on a more chill and laid back style. This single is a total vibe and an excellent closure for this EP. BIG Naughty’s rap delivery in this track is super fun and had me vibing to it.
BIG Naughty once again outdid himself with ‘NANGMAN’. This release is musically rich, diverse and it is a total non-skip from start to end. Make sure to stream it and listen to the full lot here.
