ASTRO just released their 8th mini album ‘SWITCH ON‘. This group has been going strong since their debut and we are thrilled to see what surprises this release is bringing us. Let’s dive into the music.
SWITCH ON
The title track ‘SWITCH ON‘ kicks off this mini album with an up-beat and funky arrangement. Co-written by Cha Eun-woo, Jin-jin and Rocky, this single is bright and happy. It’s definitely a feel-good song that I will have on repeat for a while. It’s charming.
The music video doesn’t fall behind with the feel-good vibe, with a disco themed set and a very pastel colour palette that is absolutely stunning. Massive shoutout to the styling team, they did a marvelous job and the members look incredible. Watch it below.
We go into a summer feeling with the single ‘Footprint‘, this EDM based single is a total bop. I really loved the tropical feel to it, and the vocals and harmonization were fantastic. I particularly liked how well they played with the autotune for some parts of the song, it was well done and gave this song a special touch.
Next up
We jump into a fairy-tale with ‘Waterfall‘, the instrumentation in this track is absolutely stunning, and ASTRO’s vocal line went off with incredible harmonizations and impressive high notes. I just need this song to become the soundtrack for an anime adventure film (studio Ghibli style). It just feels right.
Acoustic guitar welcomes listeners in ‘Sunset Sky‘, this ballad gives off a warm a fuzzy feeling that is not sad but rather calm. I really liked Jin-jin and Rocky’s rapping in this track, and overal it’s a really good listen.
Bass and House music are mixed in the track ‘MY ZONE‘. I was very surprised when I listened to this song. It has all the characteristics of an ASTRO’s title track with the perfect tempo and flow for a killer choreo. Get ready to jam to this song.
Last on this release is ‘Don’t Worry‘ with a very addictive and cool synth. The vocals and rapping were great and I loved how they added a few instrumentals in part of the track, it made it very dynamic and a fantastic listen.
