In this week’s R&B Gem, we’re delving into the musical journey of an independent singer-songwriter, Roydo—a hidden gem with an impressive repertoire and a solo discography that deserves more recognition.
Roydo, also known as Yoon Hoyoung, made his entrance into the music scene in 2013 with the release of “Shining Star,” a collaboration with DinDin, and the single album “Day N’ Night” alongside Scotch VIP. Notably, Roydo had previously showcased his talents on the second season of Superstar K.
Breaking into music
From 2014 to 2017, Roydo continued to drop singles, unveiling his first EP, ‘Ryodo Music.’ His musical palette during this period was a fusion of Hip-Hop and R&B, showcasing his multifaceted and diverse approach to music creation.
First Album
In 2018, Roydo released his eponymous first album, followed by the single ‘Lonely’ and his second EP, ‘UNIVERSE.’
From 2021 to 2023, Roydo maintained his momentum, dropping singles like ‘Adorkable,’ ‘Drip,’ ‘Affogato,’ and ‘Hover,’ each showcasing his evolving style and artistic versatility.
Producing Credits
Beyond his solo career, Roydo has left his mark as a producer, contributing to the discographies of prominent Kpop groups like B.A.P, Wanna One, THE BOYZ, OnlyOneOf, MONSTA X, ONEUs, and more.
Roydo’s most recent release, the EP ‘KPOPSINGERSONGWRITER,’ continues to captivate listeners with its unique blend of melody and emotion.
