In this week’s R&B Gem we are talking about a multi talented artist with not just an incredible voice to delight the audience, but also a killer rapping delivery. Today we are featuring Romantic Factory artist OVAN.
Beginnings
Jo Kang-seok (aka. OVAN) debuted in 2017 with the single ‘Virgin Love’ under the label Romantic Factory. Before officially debuting, OVAN released a couple of singles that are absolute gems. Check them below.
His official debut single is ‘Virgin Love’.
Soon after his official debut he released the singles ‘Girl You Deserved It’ and ‘For Real’.
His single ‘BON VOYAGE’ featuring Piano Man, mixes his rapping style with his singing and it is an absolute must in his discography. Watch the MV below.
Collabs
OVAN has a lengthy list of collabs, one of his first included the band Jannabi, ‘The Star of The Movie’ was released in 2017, and it is a gem of a song that deserves a lot more attention. Check it below.
In 2018 he released ‘Confusion’ featuring Jinsil from Mad Soul Child. The music video for this video was part of a trilogy of videos filmed following the story of a couple and the different stages of their relationship.
‘Miss Fortune’ followed up this release, this song features OVAN’s level mate VINXEN and became one of his most well-known songs with more than nine million views so far.
This song is one of my personal favourites, the lyrics are are sentimental and honest, part of them goes as:

‘TWENTY’ featuring SHAUN, followed his hit song, with a more up-beat style but a different storyline. The story with the actress featured in ‘Confusion’ and ‘Miss Fortune’ ended with the single ‘Christmas Rose’ feat LEEBADA released in 2019.
However, OVAN also released the single ‘HOME’ featuring SHAUN. Check the music videos below.
Lyrics, struggles, talent
The single ‘Happiness’ is one of OVAN’s most popular songs, in the lyrics he talks about his personal thoughts, struggles and his family. Part of the lyrics go as:
