Rapper In the Spotlight: NOSUN – An Artist with Stories to Tell

In this edition of Rapper in the Spotlight, we’re diving into the evolving discography of an indie rapper with a talent for storytelling and a sound that refuses to stay in one lane. Let’s talk about Nosun.

Lee Hwan-min, better known as Nosun, is a Korean-American rapper who officially debuted in 2021 under Daido Records. His debut track, ‘Rosé‘, immediately stood out with its soft R&B vibe and personal lyricism—offering a raw, melodic flow paired with beautiful instrumentation.

Building a Sound (2021–2022)

In his first two years, Nosun focused on releasing a string of singles, including ‘Addicted,’ ‘Blueberry Sunshine,’ ‘Black Tattoo‘, and more. These early tracks showcased his introspective lyricism and emotional delivery.

The release of ‘Chrome’, featuring TRADE L, marked a turning point. Here, Nosun began leaning more into hip-hop beats with a confident bounce. That energy continued in ‘Dollasine’, showing a clear expansion of his style.

First Album: ‘Lost Films’

After a period of sonic exploration, Nosun released his first full album, ‘Lost Films‘, in 2023. This record feels like the culmination of everything he’d been building toward—emotionally charged, cohesive, and stylistically rich. It highlighted his growth without abandoning the vulnerability that defined his earlier work.

He followed it up with one of our favorite releases, ‘Off Topic’, featuring Foggyatthebottom. The track features an unconventional arrangement, shifting sections, and a fresh sound that’s both experimental and polished.

2024: New Labels, New Sound

After releasing Lost Films, Nosun joined Top Shelf Product the Label, where he dropped two more albums—’SESE’ and ‘Up Again‘—and his first EP, ‘Blur’. These projects solidified his sound, proving his ability to blend melody, bars, and concept across multiple tracks.

A New Era: ‘Exit Wounds’ Under Ambition Musik

In 2025, Nosun signed with Ambition Musik, kicking off a new chapter in his career. His latest release, the album ‘Exit Wounds‘, brings together everything he’s worked on—personal storytelling, top-tier production, genre-blending, and emotionally charged lyricism. It’s his most refined project to date and an absolute must-listen.

Nosun’s music is a journey—both personal and sonic. His evolution from emotional debut tracks to the polished and hard-hitting ‘Exit Wounds‘ shows an artist who’s constantly growing but always rooted in authenticity. With a foot in both Korean and Western musical influences, Nosun’s style is rich, real, and refreshingly unpredictable.
