This week’s Rapper In The Spotlight is an artist that has been around since 2015 and there isn’t a bad song in his discography. All of his music videos are absolutely stunning. Today we are talking about DPR LIVE.
Hong Da Bin (aka. DPR LIVE) is a South Korean rapper and singer. He is under Dream Perfect Regime (DPR) and debuted officially in 2017, even though he had a release back in 2015.
The beginnings
‘Till I Die’ was more of a visual project, but he nailed with his incredible rap. This music video is an actual piece of visual art, it was beautifully edited and planned, go check it out.
DPR is label that puts enormous efforts in the releases of its artists. Their music videos are stunning and the music simply incredible. Make sure to check out their work (Total legends).
DPR Live was part of the legendary ‘Eung Freestyle’ in 2016 featuring big figures of the Korean HipHop scene such as Sik-k, Punchnello, Owen Ovadoz and Flowsik.
Debut Time
DPR Live officially debuted with his EP ‘Coming To You Live’ and the title track ‘Know Me’ featuring Dean feels like the perfect introduction to show what this young artist is going for with his art. The lyrics go like this:
“(…) man this song to you is my letter
my letter to the fan
middle finger to to the hater
don’t really give a fuck
bish i’m a go getter
I’m an artists before I’m a rapper
fuck your shit” (…)
In 2017, DPR Live also released the song ‘Jasmine’. This song is super soft and romantic, and probably one of my favorite releases as well, part of the lyrics go:
“Good cars, a lot of money
I might not have but
I can love you
I can care for you
And if you want
We can get on a spaceship
Fly across the night sky
I can pick the stars and place them in your hands (…)”
The Future
DPR Live’s latest solo release is a more lively song, ‘Playlist’ is a change of vibe in comparison with his previous releases and I absolutely loved it. Check it out.
